Chores are easier to recover on phone and desktop

Needs attention now works on mobile, including overdue and due-today chores, grouped overdue backlogs, complete, clear, resolve, and snooze actions. Desktop backlog rows also use the full card width with clearer columns, so plant names, locations, late badges, and actions line up instead of feeling like a cramped mobile layout stretched onto a large screen.

Nursery workspace

The Nursery now has a desktop workspace for reviewing cuttings, seed-starting projects, and wishlist plants in one place. Garden Map planning also makes wishlist plants easier to reveal and distinguish before they are planted.

Mobile quick-actions fix

Gallery quick-actions now stay inside the mobile screen and avoid the Safari text-selection callout when long-pressing a plant card.

Gallery card quick actions

Plant cards now have a quick-actions menu for adding a journal entry, adding a photo, or changing type and status. Long-press on mobile or right-click on desktop; normal card taps still open plant detail.

Cleaner gallery card text

Gallery cards no longer show a visible quick-actions button or truncate long card text with an ellipsis that looks like an action.

Basal Break observation state

Basal Break is available again as an observation state for tracking new growth from the base, while Dormant remains a plant status.

Dormancy suggestion (Jan 1 - Jan 15)

During the first half of January, the gallery and plant detail Summary tab now show a dismissible reminder to mark seasonal dormancy. The suggestion targets your Growing and Watch plants; dormancy is still confirmed per plant with the existing Confirm Dormant action.

Dormant plants read as muted in the gallery

Dormant plants now appear muted in the gallery card with a Dormant strip and softened opacity, while still being filterable by status. Watch plants without an active observation also get a subtle status strip for scanability.

Seasonal treatment chores actually show up

When you target a seasonal treatment template at specific plants, the chore generator now uses your plant list as the source of truth even if a different location target is selected. Saving a template surfaces the generated chore count and a clear reason when none are produced.

Seasonal archive cleanup tightened

Archiving a seasonal treatment template now removes open generated chores scheduled for today as well as future dates. That keeps temporary smoke or seasonal products removable when there is no completed treatment history.

Bulk bloom observation logging verified

The journal entry modal's bulk mode also supports Observation entries through the existing batch path, with a tighter 25-plant cap for bulk bloom logging. Per-plant transactions still apply your existing observation-state rules and bring Dormant plants back to Growing when you log a new state.

Guide and feedback context cleanup

The public user guide and the internal Kim-feedback context document no longer describe the old auto-expiring Flush observation state. Both now reflect the shipped persistent Bloom / Bud Sighting / Leafing Out / Basal Break / Resting model with Dormant as plant status.
May 20, 2026

Bloom cycle rework

Bloom cycle tracking now uses journal observation entries as the source of truth with a live plant-state cache for the gallery and plant detail views. Blooming, Bud Sighting, Leafing Out, Basal Break, and Resting can reflect overlapping rose growth patterns without auto-expiring.

Deadhead and dormancy controls

Plant Summary now has direct controls to log the last deadhead or confirm dormancy. Deadheading clears Blooming and Bud Sighting into Resting, while Dormant remains the plant status and resets current bloom observations.

Treatment spacing and seasonal limits

Products can now store minimum reapplication days, seasonal max applications, and foliar spray classification. Treatment journal entries can link to a product, write treatment history, and surface non-blocking spacing warnings.

Seasonal treatment templates

Chores now includes targeted seasonal treatment templates for temporary product schedules by plant or location. Generated chores are linked to the template, and archiving a template removes future open chores while preserving past or completed chore history.
May 19, 2026

Treatment source linking

Bulk treatments can now be linked back to the pest or disease observation that caused them. Treatment entries show their source context, and saved protocol rules can warn you when a treatment differs from your usual plan without blocking the entry.

Pre-beta polish pass

The app now has more consistent keyboard and mobile behavior across the main plant-care workflows. Menus and overlays close more predictably, repeated form actions are guarded while saves are in progress, empty and error states have clearer next steps, icon-only controls are easier to understand, and fixed mobile controls respect safe-area spacing more reliably.

Gallery and mobile tap improvements

The gallery now preserves your filter context when you open a plant and return. Plant cards can start a journal entry with that plant already selected, compact gallery controls are spaced more safely on mobile, and garden mobile tools are easier to reach from the overflow menu.

Text and appearance controls

Settings now includes appearance controls for text size and font choice. The garden canvas and editor controls respect those text settings more consistently, making labels, menus, and toolbar controls easier to read.

Chores are easier to scan

Due-soon chores are grouped by category, chore rows can show attached product recipes, and product/shopping state handling is more reliable. This makes it easier to see what needs doing and what supplies are involved.

Journal entry type settings

Settings can now control which journal entry types are available per plant category. Plant journals respect those category rules while keeping sensible defaults when nothing custom is configured.

Accessibility quick wins

App routes now have stronger landmarks, skip navigation, route focus behavior, and icon-only button labels. These changes make keyboard and assistive-tech navigation more predictable across the main app shell.
May 15, 2026

Custom pests, diseases, and treatments

You can now type any pest, disease, or treatment that isn't in the preloaded list when logging a journal entry. Custom values save to your personal list and reappear as options in future entries. Preloaded defaults still work as before.

Callout annotations redesigned

Callout labels on the garden canvas now behave like real canvas objects. Tap the Callout tool, tap a plant, bed, or empty point to anchor it, and a text input appears right next to where you tapped instead of in the center of the screen. The label stays selected after you save so you can drag it immediately. The leader line follows the label live while you drag. Tap empty canvas to deselect. Long text wraps and grows the label height instead of clipping. Delete and edit controls are larger for easier touch on mobile.

Expanded garden sticker set

The garden canvas sticker picker now includes a larger set of structures, paths, decor objects, tools, and garden markers. New options include greenhouse, gates, fence segments, path markers, rain barrel, compost, wheelbarrow, watering can, warning, pest, bloom, sun, frost, bee, and butterfly markers.

Wishlist plants on the garden canvas

Wishlist plants can appear as lighter dashed chips in the unplaced tray and garden layout. Use the Show Wishlist control when planning future beds without mixing those plants into the normal placed-plant flow.

Faster garden images

Garden plant chips now load optimized Cloudinary thumbnails instead of raw original images, which keeps garden surfaces lighter while preserving the same plant photos.
May 14, 2026

App-wide visual refresh

The Chores, Journal, Plant Detail, Settings, and Nursery screens now share the same visual direction as the gallery. Updated color palette, tighter spacing, and consistent typography throughout. The chore workload bar and overdue summary card are now collapsible so they don't dominate the mobile view. Overdue chores stay visible in compact form and re-expand automatically when new overdue work appears.

Chore Dashboard

The Chores tab now shows an at-a-glance summary at the top. Overdue chores appear highlighted in red. Chores due in the next 7 days appear below. The card hides automatically when everything is on track.

Cleaner Public Pages

The landing page, guide pages, changelog, and TC placeholder got a visual polish pass with cleaner icons, better spacing, and clearer page structure.

Chores Polish

Chores now use clearer icon buttons, cleaner expand/collapse controls, and more consistent batch-complete labels.

Guide Updates

The guide now includes public help for plant tracking and chores, including corrected copy for the workload filter control.

Gallery Filter Fix

Changing plant status filters no longer clears the selected plant type. Category changes and explicit clear actions still reset plant type when needed.

Session Expiry Handling

Protected in-app actions now use the shared auth-aware request helper, so expired sessions redirect back through sign-in more consistently.
May 3, 2026

Smart Field Visibility

The plant edit form now adapts to each category. Fields appear and disappear based on what makes sense for each plant type - no more scrolling past rose-specific fields on your tomatoes.
  • Change a plant's category mid-edit and the form updates instantly
  • Customize which groups show per category in Settings -> Categories -> Field Groups
  • New categories auto-detect their type and apply smart defaults

Success Feedback Everywhere

Every action now shows a brief confirmation banner - "Plant saved," "Template deleted," "Location added," etc. Auto-dismisses after 3 seconds.

Chore Duplication Fix

Fixed a bug where browsing past months in the chores view would retroactively create chore instances. Chores now only generate for current and future months.

Template Save Fix

Fixed chore templates with products failing to save. Templates with product recipes now save correctly.

Better Error Messages

When something fails, you now see the specific reason instead of a generic "Failed to save."

Loading Spinners

Pages show a loading spinner during navigation instead of a blank screen.

Double-Submit Prevention

Save buttons disable while a request is in flight. No more accidental duplicates.
